Emily Falconbridge - '52 week challenge'

Ok, I did the boring catch up stuff yesterday, today I want to post some pics of my new bits and bobs:

I joined this a little later in the year than most, but whilst I had no pictures to scrap whilst my pc was away - I managed to catch up with it all.

it's a 52 week chellenge, decorating playing cards, using weekly prompts from Emily's blog http://embers.typepad.com/e/mini_art_journal_challenge/index.html

The first prompt - something you are proud of...

I did this using some free papers I got from some magazine a long time ago !! I cut some letters from a magazine and just pasted them on and inked the edges.
Something I am proud of?? My children

The second prompt was what is powerful to you?

For this I backed the card with red tissue paper, I stamped the word Love onto red card and inked the edges, I stuck the card down together with a heart clip I got from some swap! and then wrote the words for my family, and inked the outer edges again

What is powerful to me? The love for my family

Week Three's prompt was "I am", but I couldn't do this at the time as I needed a phot of me and couldn't access my pics!

Week four - a symbol you love

The union Jack - I have always loved the Union Flag, I don't know why really, just sort of feel proud when I see it, proud to be British - yeah this country has a lot of bad points, and things could be better, but is that not true of everywhere and indeed everything. We mightn't have fabulous weather, we might get heavily taxed, but we have a free health care and other benefits etc etc, and me and my family are reasonably safe here unlike many other countries - and at the end of the day I am proud to be British.

Week five: use some ephemera from your week
I have done this challenge - but this morning I just re-inked the edges and so I don't want to put it in the scanner just yet!!! Will upload later this week!

Week 6: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

I wanted to implement the old cartoon captions "love is ..." and try and implement how i feel about love. I found this image on the web and so printed it off, used a heart eyelet and inked the edges.

Week seven: shoes - there is always a story to tell.

I wanted the caption "too Many Shoes", and a photo of lots of shoes - the photo isn't mine - that comes from Imelda!!
The caption was important to me - when we moved from our last house, I was pregnant and I had to work too on that last day, and my good friend and neighbour helped Gary with the last bits. She packed all my shoes into boxes and wrote on where they were to go in the new house - eventually she just wrote "More shoes!!" , and then finally "Too Many Shoes" !!!

I used the image and some white rub ons.

Week Eight : who (or what) do you miss?

What do I miss?? That's easy - I miss my friend Lisa dreadfully. I said in September what happened, so I am not going through that again. But as time has gone on, I have started to move on, but there are many times when things happen, sometimes in real life, and sometimes i see things on UKS, and my first thought is I must tell Lisa that - she would laugh; and then the pain starts again as I remember I can't tell her anymore, she isn't here.

This image and text is part of a lo I did from when we set the weekly challenge, the poem summed everything up for me, and we had to incporporate an angel, so i did both together, nothing else is required for me to know Who I miss.
