After Monday's visit to the hospital, Tuesday was spent preparing for Georgia's birthday. I made her a cake for her her birthday tea, vinegar loaf - which i know sounds revolting, but is in fact rather nice - yes it does have vinegar in it, but no - you cannot taste it!! This was just a simple cake so she had something to blow her candles out, her "proper" cake was for her party.
Then I got all the bits out from the various hidey holes and wrapped everything up.
Wednesday arrived, she was soooooo excited. for her birthday this year, she got a scooter, pink and silver with flashing lights!!
And so after opening everything, and getting dressed, we went to school, then I had to go and pick her back up - she had her Pre-primary dancing exam that morning too. So we went to Rawtenstall, all dressed, hair up in a bun, and off she went to perform her best for half an hour, she came out all excited :-
I went to pick her up from Rainbows, I had asked for half a night off from Brownies, so I took Ab's to Brownies and then took Georgia home. Abigail rode her scooter there, Georgia scooted home
And so after a very exciting and hectic day, Gary arrived home to take her to bed, and I went back to Brownies.
And so Thursday arrived, and I started all over again for Sam's party. He wanted a rocket cake (I am trying to gloss over this part quite quickly - you'll see why later!!) So I went to do the shopping - we were having a tea party on Friday evening with my folks and Sam's godmother. And in the afternoon I made the cake, and decorated it in the evening. I have to be brutally honest and tell you it was rubbish!! Then it was back to the hidey holes to dig out the pressies!
And so Friday arrived, Sam opened up his cards and presents before school, then when we got home, he spent the morning playing.
Mary arrived later in the morning so we could finish the Brownie accounts - the tallied up eventually!!
Friday afternoon I was baking and cleaning - the works!! People arrived just after half five or so. We had some food and drinks, Sam opened yet more presents!! including a MASSIVE "dig dig" which he loves! Then
we did the cake!
Now I did say it was rubbish - I will hold my hand up - but Sam loved it, even Abigail thought it looked "cool", which was very kind of her to say so!!
And so the guests left, we tidied away, then I made list for the stuff I needed to get for Goregia's party!!
Saturday, we had a cancellation appointment at the optician, so we left for Rawtenstall even earlier than normal!! Abigail was ok, her sight hasn't got worse and we even checked her periphary fields as the pedeatricain suggested, but she was ok there too. I went to Asda in between that and Georgia's lesson to get the rest of the bits for her cake and the pizza toppings and the like - oh and our saturday night curry (due to the tea party, Friday night curry night was postponed!!)
After dancing Georgia had another party to go to, and whilst she was there I made her cake and the marziapn teddies. My confidence was a little shattered after the rocket, but they were fab teddies!! I made three and then they could have one each! I iced it in the evening, so that was one less thing to do in the evening.
I was very pleased with the end result !!!
On the way home from the party we went to McDonalds for Abigail and Sam, as promised last weekend after Georgia's missed party so I even managed to do an assignment for the BPS class - I couldn't really do the girl that gave me the food at McDonalds, but I was watching a lady sat near the window whilst I was waiting, so I came home and wrote about her!!
Sunday was Mother's Day - the children had made me some beautiful cards. Abigail sorted Gary out to make my breakfast, and they had a lovely bouquet of flowers for me too! We went to church, it was a Parade sunday and the Rainbows were leading it, Georgia did loads helping to put the visual together for the story of Moses in the bulrushes. Then it was home to prepare the food and tidy up and get ready for the party!!
We had an arts and crafts party, we started by making place mats - they coloured a picture, then Gary laminated them. Then we did some plate painting, I already had ceramic paints, and I bought some packs of value plates in Tesco. The we did ssome t-shirt painting and bling - I bought some cheap t-shirts in Tesco, I already had textile paints, I bought some heart gems and glue - so they painted and stuck to their hearts content. I think it was fair to say everyone enjoyed themselves.
After the craft, they played games whilst we cleared the table and brought the pizza bases out and the toppings, and they made their pizzas. A few games whilst Gary tended the food, then time for tea!
After tea, we brought out Georgia's cake and sang happy birthday, a couple more games whilst I cut the cake, the everyone left - and I had a large glass of wine!!
Happy Birthday to Georgia and Sam !! Cheers, (but thank goodness it's only once a year !!!)
